The Wesley Allen beds come
very well wrapped and protected in sturdy,
stapled corregated cardboard boxes. These
pictures show an example of the Sunset
Complete Bed, with 3 boxes (from the
left) 1) the Millenium Frame box 2) the footboard
box and 3) the headboard box. |
 |
The Millenium frame,
instructions and hardware packet all come in
the same box. |
 |
The
beds are packed in a very thorough manner,
to prevent damage during shipment. The
corners, and other vulnerable areas are packed
with thick styrofoam. |
 |
Watch out for the
staples when removing the bed from the boxes. These
can easily scratch you. It is recommended
to remove them. |
 |
This is the footboard
removed from the box, so you can see the packing
done at the factory. |
 |
Close up of the
wrapping in the middle of the footboard, underneath
the first layer of foam material. |
 |
This is the headboard
removed from the box, and similarly well protected. |
 |
Close up of the
packing materials on the corners. It
is easliy a couple of inches thick. |
 |
Each Wesley Allen
bed is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. You
can download
a copy of the warranty here. |
 |
Open the hardware packet
and make sure you have been given the proper
amount of bolts, nuts, washers and screws. You
will also need a phillps-head screwdriver
and a 7/16" open-end or adjustable wrench
(or 7/16" socket wrench). |
 |
There
should be 8 of each type of hardware, plus
a couple extra of each. |
 |
As soon as you pick up the
Millenium frame, you will know that you have
bought the highest-quality iron bed. The
rails (shown) are made of heavy guage iron,
and make a bell-like sound when struck. These
things mean serious business,
and are the makings of one sturdy bed. |
 |
Once
your headboard is placed in the location where
the bed will be set up, you can attach the
rails to the headboard with the bolts, screwing
only by hand (with the washers on the bolts). |
 |
Notice
that the nuts are not used
to attach the rails to the headboard/footboard. Instead,
the rails screw directly into the pre-drilled
holes. Continue attaching the rails to
the headboard, and then do the same with the
footboard, remembering to only hand-tighten. |
 |
Once
all 8 bolts are in place, tighten them with
the wrench. |
 |
Here
are the rails attached to the headboard and
footboard. |
 |
Now you will attach the 3 cross
slats that complete the Millenium frame. In
this example, we have a King sized bed, so
the three cross slats appear as in the picture:
- 1 cross slat with 3 V's attached
(instructions part "C", for the middle
of the bed)
- 1 cross slat with 1 V attached
(instructions part "B", for the headboard
side of the bed)
- 1 cross slat with no V's attached
(instructions part "D", for the footboard
side of the bed)
- 1 loose V (instructions part
"E" to be attached to "D")
(For Full size beds, the 3
V slat is replaced by a 1 V slat. ) |
 |
Screw
the slats to the bottom of the rails using
the phillips head screws, and bolts. The screws
should fit nicely into the recessed holes in
the rails. Only hand-tighten them at this point. |
 |
Here
you can see the bolts which the phillps screws
screw into underneath. |
 |
Here
is the headboard cross slat in place with hand-tightened
screws only. |
 |
Do
the same with the middle cross slat (with 3
V's for this King size bed). |
 |
Now
attach the loose V to the footboard cross slat,
using the phillips screws and bolts. |
 |
Here
is the footboard cross slat in place. |
 |
Now
that all of the slats are in place, tighten
them with the phillips-head screwdriver by
holding the nut in place with the wrench underneath. |
 |
There
are several extra nuts and bolts that are only
included in case you lose some. |
 |
Here
is the assembled Millenium frame with headboard
and footboard. |
 |
Note
that the factory states that the frame has
8 3/8" clearance underneath, but I measured
8 1/8" of clearance at the rails. |
 |
Now you can put your mattress
and box springs back together; |
 |
Ta-da! That's
it! Once you put your bedding back in
place, you are ready to enjoy your new bed
for a lifetime!
